FL Friends of Music Meeting

January 8, 2008

Mr Kafer’s report- Pitt Orchestra started this Monday.

A problem for next year is no new brass players coming up. Part of the problem is the middle school band meets before the start of school day.

Winter concert went well.

A company will be donating some money for some new percussion equipment.

YEA has decided to enforce the rule about doctoring the music; the cost will be more.

The dinner was really nice, a good time had by all. Mr Kafer said he is very thankful for our hard work throughout the year.

Musical is 4 days last weekend in March.

Trip is Wednesday April 30th Spamalot. If you would still like to go he needs the $ 55.00 payment in cash.

There will be a concert in May and AP Test in May.

Dedication of the shed, with a plaque and probably of the percussion equipment, photo will be coming. .

Some of the big ticket items Mr Kafer is looking for next year are: Tympani cart, Vibraphone and Tubas.

Fruit and frozen food and cakes fund raiser had a smaller profit margin then originally thought, very few people participated.  We will probably not do this one next year.  He is looking into other ones though.

Miss Luca’s report – is not present. There will be a page on the Web site that will display her info she sent in the mail.

Treasurer’s Report – Profits for this year are down for tag day, we did not make as much of a profit as in the past, not enough participants.

Other profits were from the dinner are posted, there is always a margin of profit from the dinner.

Membership – Some new members probably due to the new letter sent out to prospective members, there are currently about 73 families.

Website- nothing to report

Publicity& Marketing - Friendly’s night out is January 30th

If you are looking  on the website at corporation, check their community involvement and let him know and he will send out a letter.

Working on a video, it will hopefully be going on the Fair Lawn News channel soon.

The Record has a sports magazine with an article in it about the Marching Band.

Fair Lawn Marching Band and Color Guard Day is Jan. 29th all members will receive proclamation that declare this 7:30 PM at Borough Hall.

Fundraisers-

Tag Day – profits were down about $ 700.00 not enough participants only about 70 children. Maybe we could reconsider they way we do tag day in the future. We could consider a change when we go over the by-laws at review in the spring.

Bake Sale – No bake sale took place in December due to the storm.

Honey – Sold some over the holidays, there is still some available

Winter & Spring Concert – The concert was great, we have new ideas for next year: Candy or flower grams. We made $ 144.00 on the stand for the winter concert. There were a lot more people there then in the past. The Spring Concert will be in May.

Pasta Dinner – canceled no one offer to chair the committee.

Super 50/50 – Will be mailed out in February, it will be run similar to the Giants Raffle ticket fundraiser. Should the winner be one person or split among three people. It was decided to have three winners.
