FL Friends of Music Meeting

Colleen called the meeting to order

Mr. Kafer’s Report – We are in musical season; it is the last weekend in March.

He feels this is the finest wind ensemble he has ever taught.  This year he has a student teacher and it has been a great experience. 

This year we have had quite a few donations.  We now have a new drum line, 2 new piano dollies and covers, a new head Amp and Piano Amp

Musical trip is $ 90.00 for the bus, show, and dinner at Planet Hollywood.  The final payment is due.

Working on Florida for next year.

Music Theory is going well.

A donation of 3 19inch monitors came in from Mr. Erich

Mr. Szeinberg was offer the Memorial Middle School position today.  Congratulations!

Mr. Kafer is concerned about the demand placed on students for required classes it cuts down on the music electives they are allowed to take.  He has proposed and alternate schedule.

Band Camp is Aug 19-22 and Aug 25-28

We need brass players and Color Guard

Competition Schedule this year id different, because we have Saturday night games and one Friday night game.  First Competition is

Saturday October 11 – N Brunswick we opted out of Bergenfield for this weekend

Sunday Oct 19 _ Trenton

Saturday October 26 – State Championship

Saturday November 1 – Northern States

Nov 8 – Game no competition

November 14 or 15 National Championship

 

Color Guard – We had a change in staffing, we are working on finding a new director.

OLD BUSINESS – Minutes are post on the web site and a copy is available in the front of the room.

Treasure’s Report – Very little Fund Raising going on.  A few dollars from membership, Honey and Bake Sales.  Feb. Expenses, Ms Lucas gift was purchased, that was previously budgeted and some money was spent on the raffle and license.

In March we earned a few dollars from the bake sale, $ 181.00 from Friendly’s night and Expenses for March so far the deposit on the Venetian.

Membership – a few new members posted in February.

Roadie Crew – George said that Doug was working on the float for the parade

Marketing – Working on Video

Publicity – In Jan. we had the Proclamation ceremony.  Working on Photos with our sponsors.

Web Site – Some new photos and Video have been posted

Bake Sale – March 13 Bakers needed, Drop off in guidance

Applebee’s – Flyer available on web site, dining to donate Night is April 16th

Only on food not on alcohol, only at Applebee’s in Paramus on Route 17 - all day, we get 10% of the tab.

Spring Tag Day - May 8-11, Flyers will go out soon and will be available on the Web site.

Spring Concert - May 15 and 28 we will need donations and workers

Clothing Drive – May 17th at the High School

Super 50/50 – we will not be able to sell at the Musical; will go out in the mail Drawing will be at the June Dinner

Atlantic City - A few possible dates, probably the first Week end in May

June Awards Dinner – Tues June 3rd at the Venetian Flyers will be sent out

Maggie Moo’s Celebrity Scoop Night – TBD

Nominating Committee – Looking for team to nominate for positions and if any one is interested in becoming an officer let Meryl Gordon know

By-Laws Committee- will be meeting at Meryl’s house if anyone is interested in helping out please contact Meryl Gordon.  We must vote in May.
